The Maquoketa Marlins swim team sent four local swimmers to Des Moines for the regional swim meet to compete against swimmers from Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska. 

Kahlan Baker topped the charts with a fourth-place finish in the overall points competition. 

The team finished 20th overall, a great finish with only four swimmers representing the area, according to coach Scott Warren.

“We are so proud of all of our swimmers and look forward to another great swim season this summer,” he said.

Results:

Kahlan Baker finished 4th in the overall points competition; 2nd in the 100 free, 50 back, 50 free; 5th in the 50 breast; and 7th in the 25 back.

Cameron Zimmer finished 18th in the 25 fly, 22nd in the 50 back, and 23rd in the 25 free.

Thomas Wiebenga finished 20th in the 25 fly, 22nd in the 50 back, and 23rd in the 25 free.

Ellie Cagle finished 19th in the 25 free.
