Sadie Zaruba, a senior

Sadie Zaruba, a senior Easton Valley River Hawk, was named first-team all-conference for the Tri-Rivers Conference. She is shown here digging deep for a ball from the back row during a game against Midland on pink-out night.

The Easton Valley volleyball team fell a little short on its season goals this year. The River Hawks started the season by being shut-out in five of the team’s first six matches and only four times the rest of the year.

The River Hawks did record six sweeps on the year.

Marquette Catholic of Bellevue proved to be a thorn in the River Hawks’ side this year. The Mohawks beat the River Hawks 3-2 in district play and 10-5 for the year in four matches.

Next year should give the River Hawks good depth with 10 juniors on the roster this year. Five of the girls logged a lot of playing time. They will have to replace first-team Tri-Rivers All-Conference player Sadie Zaruba and second-teamers Abby Green and Sara Kilburg next year.
