DUNKERTON — Easton Valley traveled to Dunkerton and picked up an opening-night victory, winning 63-31. 

Quarterback Nate Trenkamp started strong, completing 23 of 35 attempts for 376 yards (11th most in the state). Trenkamp threw eight touchdown passes to five different receivers Friday night. 

Senior Cade Jargo caught seven passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Everyone who caught a pass caught a touchdown pass except one player. Kolton Murphy had the lone TD on the ground covering 38 yards. The River Hawks only had 62 yards on the ground. Trenkamp is one of two quarterbacks in the state who threw for eight touchdowns and without throwing an interception. 

The River Hawks forced three turn overs in the win, recording two interceptions and one fumble recovery. Junior Hudson Felkey led the team in tackles with 11 — nine of those solo tackles. Braydin Farrell came in with seven.

The River Hawks’ next game is Friday in Preston against Lone Tree.
