To the Friends of the Maquoketa Community Cupboard,

A little over one year ago we began the fundraising campaign called “Feed the Need.” The Community Cupboard was moving to a new location and needed donations to purchase the Movies America building. The campaign goal is to raise $290,000.

Last May the Cupboard Board of Directors purchased the building and on June 29, 2018, the move was made. They were able to move all inventory across the street and re-open the following Friday for their next scheduled food distribution. No interruption of service! A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped in that busy week.

The support of the community and businesses in this first year of our campaign has been much appreciated. Total giving and pledges are right at $200,000, spread between renovation costs, endowment gifts, and purchase of the building.

Our current building loan balance is at $23,000. The fundraising team is hoping that this amount can be paid off by the May 1, and we believe this is entirely possible with the gifts being received this month. If you haven’t responded yet, and are planning to, please send gifts to: FEED THE NEED, P.O. Box 645, Maquoketa, Iowa.

Also, the offering at the Community Good Friday service will be directed towards this goal next week.
