On behalf of the Maquoketa Hometown Pride Committee, I’m writing to express our gratitude for the many people who made this year’s Spring Clean Up Day a big success. Over 60 volunteers worked through a rainy morning on projects around town, including building a fence at Grove Street, painting dugouts and park benches, and picking up litter and debris.

Thank you to the service organizations, students, and sponsors that — together — helped us achieve so much in one morning!

Also on May 11, many residents took advantage of household disposal and recycling opportunities offered at Public Works and Clinton Engines. We send special thanks to the Public Works Department for coming through big-time to make sure everything went smoothly all morning.

The Maquoketa Hometown Pride Committee plans to continue this annual event next spring, and we are also looking for ongoing clean up opportunities throughout the year to beautify Maquoketa and show pride in our community.
