Letter to editor

Editor:

I have been hearing a lot of political ads including for our local county offices such as Recorder, Treasurer, and Supervisors. I would like to encourage everyone who can vote to do so. You can do so by voting in person at the Auditor’s office or going to the polls on November 6.

With so many contested races this year it may feel overwhelming. There was a candidate forum a few weeks back. If you were unable to go, I believe you can still see it online. It is important not only to vote but to be informed.

With that being said I feel that Arlene Lyon is the best choice for County Treasurer. In addition to having a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting, Arlene is a certified public accountant (CPA). As a CPA she completes 40 hours of continuing education annually. The County Treasurer is responsible for a number of financial duties including receipt, management, disbursement, financial reporting, bonds, and investment of all monies paid to the County. The Treasurer also serves as agent for the State of Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance.

Arlene Lyon has the experience, education, and integrity to expertly serve as Jackson County Treasurer. Please vote Arlene Lyon for Treasurer on November 6.
