While Maquoketa boasts a beautiful library, the same could not be said for our library website. In fact, I have rarely directed anyone to it until now.
For the past few months, I have been working hard on a new website. It was finally ready to go live on Jan. 2 and has been well-received so far. Our website is provided to us by the State Library of Iowa which means it doesn’t come out of our budget, and I am so thankful they have offered this very much-needed upgrade. It is cleaner looking and easier to navigate. It also has a lot more to offer.
If you’ve never visited the website before, I would suggest checking it out. It has streamlined a lot of our services. For example, we offer the use of our Community Room and History Room free of charge to most groups and individuals. You can request a reservation via an easy online form, see pictures, and read about the different amenities. The website is actually a great place to get a hold of us for quite a few different things including a general question or comment for me, a purchase suggestion, an interlibrary loan request, or a technology appointment request.
There’s also a lot of great information about what the library has to offer for kids, parents, teens, and adults. You can find out more about the book clubs I lead every month and all of our programming. We also have an amazing variety of databases and online learning services available. One in particular my daughter and I have enjoyed is Transparent Language. It’s a very easy-to-use and interactive way to learn a new language. Login information for all of our databases is available at the library or over the phone. Although we’d like to, we can’t post it online. Please don’t let that stop you from checking out what we have to offer, though. I would bet you’ll find something that interests you.
Maybe you’re interested in giving back to the library. Thank you! Learn how to become a Friend of the Library. It’s a great way to give back and be more involved in what we’re doing. You could also follow the link to our Amazon wish list and participate in our Adopt-A-Book program, let us know you purchased an item, and we’ll put your name or the name of someone you’d like to honor inside the cover.
It feels really good to be offering our patrons such a new and improved website. Libraries are in the business of providing information, and our online presence is just as important as our brick-and-mortar one. Please consider visiting maquoketa.lib.ia.us and seeing what we have to offer online. If you have suggestions for additional content, let us know via the contact page.
