Patricia A. “Pat” Straub, 87, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, Jan. 8, 2021, at Ennoble Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque.
A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. There is no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Patricia Ann Clark was born on Oct. 20, 1933, in Maquoketa, Iowa to Tom and Marion (Wallace) Clark. She attended Maquoketa schools and worked for many years as a nurses aide at area nursing homes and hospitals. She married Dale White and to that union four children were born. They later divorced. On July 13, 1963, she married Tom Straub in Morrison, Illinois.
“Pat” was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. She enjoyed dealing in antiques and going to flea markets and estate sales with her husband. She had an eye for decorating and kept a clean home. She raised six “nice” children, was compassionate, and loved animals.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Tom Straub of Maquoketa, IA; children, Steve (Dianne) White of Vermont, IL, Joe (Rosalie) White of Maquoketa, IA, Sue (Mark) Pothoven of Pella, IA, and Lynne (David) Dubert of Odgen, IA; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 3 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and a daughter-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sons Tommy Straub and Mike White.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Patricia A. Straub memorial fund has been established.
