A Celebration of Life Service for Heidi McNeil, age 89, of rural Preston will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Preston, Iowa. Heidi passed away on Nov. 9, 2020, with her loving husband Archie at her side. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the service at 1 p.m. Light lunch will follow in the church basement. The family invites all friends, neighbors and others to attend.
Heidi was born in Zuckenriet, Switzerland on July 14, 1931. In the summer of 1953, Heidi met a young American GI (Archie McNeil) who was travelling through Switzerland on leave from his military station in Salzburg, Austria. They were married on Jan. 30, 1954, in Niederuzwil, Switzerland. Heidi and Archie farmed near Preston for over 60 years.
Heidi is survived by her husband Archie of nearly 67 years; son Max (Vicky) of Preston; daughter Heidi (Bill Staudenmaier) of Phoenix, Arizona; son Tom (Beth) of Preston; six grandchildren (Adam, Albert, Kate, Carson, Jacob, and Sydney); and five great-grandchildren (Brooklyn, Zooey, Xander, Archie and Zeke). She is also survived by her brother Max Cordani Waltert in the Canary Islands, Spain, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
