The following accidents were reported to area law enforcement:

• Jeremy Daniel DeMoss, 23, of Delmar, struck a deer with his vehicle after the deer entered the roadway at about 2:24 a.m. Sept. 19 on Market Street and Western Avenue in Clinton County. Damage to his 2000 Chevrolet Corvette was estimated at $2,500. 

• Payten Denise Ruthann Heine, 18, of Goose Lake, was involved in a single-vehicle accident at about 10:45 a.m. Oct. 5 on Highway 136 in Clinton County.

According to the accident report, Heine told deputies that she was distracted by an insect flying near her face and attempted to roll down the window. That’s when her vehicle began leaving the road onto a steep shoulder. She swerved back on to the road, lost traction, then slid sideways into the south ditch, where her vehicle rolled at least once before resting on its wheels.

Damage to her 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 was estimated at $3,000. 

• A Wisconsin man was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device following a two-vehicle accident at 12:36 p.m. Oct. 8 at Platt Street and McKinsey Drive in Maquoketa.

According to the accident report, Darrel Dean Hicks, 81, of Wheatland, was driving north through a green light when his vehicle was struck by one driven by Harvey J. Miller, 44, of Eastman, Wisconsin. Miller drove through a red light, according to the traffic report.

Damage to Hicks’ 2020 Chevrolet Traverse was estimated at $5,000.

Damage to Miller’s 2018 International semi was estimated at $4,000.
