Weekly Happenings

Nov. 25-Dec. 1

Sunday Prayer Service and group exercises were our activities after breakfast. A nice dinner was served, and residents enjoyed visits from friends and family throughout the day. Abby came in for activities in the evening; it was a lovely start to the week.

Monday morning after group exercises the local paper was read for Current Events group. Back massages were given in the afternoon as one-on-one activities. Residents later played bingo with Brian B. as our caller and assistance from Mike L., Earl K., Deloris N., and Gary E. Blackout was won by Doe B. Evening activities were led by Sammy.

Tuesday morning the residents gathered for Bible study in the front lounge with the ladies from Faith Group. Doris C. stopped by for her weekly visit. Resident Council met in the afternoon for its monthly meeting. Linda and Ron Lange came in to share about their trip to New Zealand and Australia for Armchair Travel. They were a lot of fun to listen to and the residents all had a great time. Some even reminisced about their own trips in the past. Shawna was in for activities in the evening.

Exercises were done Wednesday morning, then Levi and Vera Schmidt came in to pray the rosary with our Catholic residents. Family came in to celebrate the November lunches with their loved ones for Lunch Bunch. Sensory one-on-ones were done after lunch and then we were happy to see the Golden Girls Tap Dancers back for a demonstration of their talents. Don Wentworth came in after to present the second half of his “Then and Now” program. Later, Shawna was in to reminisce with the residents for Reminisce Group after supper.

Thursday morning after group exercises the resident met for Weekly Worship with Pastor Jeff Dadisman from First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa. After lunch, everyone enjoyed popcorn for Popcorn Thursday. Euchre and other games were played in the afternoon with friends and family who stopped by. Later, Abby came in for Sharing Circle after supper.

Men’s group met in the morning for coffee and donuts on Friday. One-on-one manicures were given throughout the morning. After lunch, Leigh and a few residents decorated the cookies for the party on Sunday. Residents played “What’s in the bag?” after happy hour in the later afternoon. Sammy came in for evening activities with a few residents after supper.

Brian B. came in to call bingo for us Saturday morning. Richard S. won blackout. Shawna was in to do activities with the residents in the evening and “Lawrence Welk” was shown on the television in the front lounge.

With the holiday season fast approaching, our residents love visitors. Please stop by and see us soon.
