Sen. Grassley tours JCRHC

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley toured the Jackson County Regional Health Center Friday to see the new $36.8 million facility and visit with staff. Here, hospital board member Bill Schwenker, JCRHC President Curt Coleman, and hospital board member Matt Osterhaus talk with Grassley during the tour. Among the issues Grassley discussed with hospital staff were the growing importance of telehealth for rural communities and critical access hospitals, the need for more broadband capacity for rural areas, Medicare reimbursement for critical access hospitals, prescription drug costs, and mental health. Grassley said he was impressed with the 71,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art building that opened this spring. “You ought to be proud of it,” he said, adding that the modern equipment, efficient design and pleasant surroundings were impressive.
