Walk your neighborhood Sept. 19 to advocate for Alzheimer’s disease and research.
The Jackson County Alzheimer’s Walk 2020 is taking a new approach this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, participants can watch the live Alzheimer’s Walk kickoff at 9 a.m. on Facebook (visit the Jackson County Alzheimer Walk Facebook page), then launch into the walk around your own neighborhood.
Participants are asked to social distance, wear purple, and put the Maquoketa Area Family YMCA on their route, where they can stop by the information, donation and selfie station as well as the water booth. Visit the signs of statistics, see the event sponsors, and pickup T-shirts if you ordered one.
The last chance to order T-shirts is Friday, Sept. 25. Those not picked up will be mailed. T-shirt cost is $25.
To register, text, email or message Kerry Schepers at (319) 350-3792 or Sally Davies at (563) 581-2967. Send to them your name, address, cell phone number and T-shirt size. Make checks payable to Alzheimer’s Association. Drop checks in night drop at Maquoketa State Bank or pay online.
Donations to the Alzheimer’s Walk will be given to the Alzheimer’s Association to assist with research and to help provide local services for people suffering from the disease.
