• Tamra Jean Wilkes-Binder, 57, of Clinton, was stopped at the Highway 61 156 northbound exit ramp stop sign at 8:43 a.m. Jan. 22 when Tiffany Lakaya Petersen, 29, of Clinton was unable to stop in icy conditions. She rear-ended Wilkes-Binder’s vehicle. 

Petersen’s vehicle sustained $5,000 total damage, and Wilkes-Binder’s vehicle sustained $3,000 disabling damage.

Wilkes-Binder sustained possible injuries but was not transported. 

• Colton Andrew Thurston, 24, of Dubuque, was northbound on Highway 61 when he hit a patch of black ice and went into the ditch sometime in the night before Jan. 27. 

The single-vehicle accident caused an estimated $1,000 minor damage to his vehicle and $300 damage to the state-owned chain link fence he hit. 

Thurston did not report the accident. He was cited for failure to maintain control.

• Timothy Michael Dirks, 30, of Maquoketa, was cited for operating an unregistered vehicle. 

He was eastbound on Platt Street in Maquoketa Jan. 19 at about 11 a.m. and rear-ended a vehicle driven by Luke David Dostal, 39, of Maquoketa, near Platt’s intersection with Olive Street, according to the accident report.

The accident caused an estimated $2,000 minor damage to Dostal’s vehicle and an estimated $1,000 minor damage to Dirks’ vehicle.

• An icy bridge is being blamed for a single-vehicle accident that occurred at 5:50 a.m. Feb. 6 on Highway 61.

According to the accident report, David Charles Pregler, 56, of Zwingle, was driving south when his tires hit ice on the bridge, causing him to lose control of his truck. The truck crossed the median and came to rest on its side.

Damage to Pregler’s 1990 Ford F-250 pickup was estimated at $5,000.
