The Photography Mill in Lost Nation entered area children in to a national contest held through her print lab in Cedar Falls.
Owner Stacie Cronkleton was among 58 studios nationwide to enter this contest. Over 1,100 entries yielded 59 winners.
Winning photos submitted by Cronkleton were:
ν Blooper category: Greyson Willimack of Oxford Junction, 2nd place. Colton Willimack of Oxford Junction and Sophia Hovey of Lost Nation, honorable mention.
ν Grand prize: Emmett Gilroy of Lost Nation earned the highest honor in the contest. His image with his puppy Baxter won top honors. Winners earned a Visa gift card — the top prize being a $1,500 gift card — with second place earning a $100 gift card and honorable mentions earning a $25 gift card.
Emmett’s photo will also be used for next year’s contest marketing. This is Cronkleton’s second year entering the contest; last year she won with four images as well. She plans to participate every year — the contest runs from March-July for ages 0-12 years.
Cronkleton also held a contest of her own on Facebook. Five youngsters’ photos with the most “likes” won a print of their photo. Those winners were: Ava Pape of Maquoketa, Aubrey Steckline of Cedar Rapids, Bryon Dirks of Cedar Rapids, Nora Bomia of Clarence and Regan Potter of Canton.
