Owls live all around us, but as nocturnal animals, they aren’t often seen. Join Naturalist Jeny Meyer Friday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. at the Maquoketa Caves State Park, Lower Shelter, to participate in the evening outing.

Join Meyer in learning how to identify our local owls by sound. Take a walk in the woods along the Racoon Creek valley trail at Maquoketa Caves State Park as we call for owls. All ages welcome. We’ll meet at the main stone shelter at 6 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to watch/listen to a reading of the book “Owl Moon” by Jane Yolen to get excited and get a peek at what the experience is like. This can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJ9cNoF7d_o

Participants of the Owl Prowl are encouraged to wear masks and dress warmly. There will not be restroom facilities available during the Owl Prowl.

For more information on either program or to register, please email jacksonccb@jacksonccb.com or call 563-652-3783 at least 48 hours before the event.
